Sicklinghall Village Hall: was filled with fun and laughter at the recent St Patrick’s day celebration, where participants from all ages enjoyed dancing to a local Irish band. Everyone could join in thanks to the expertise of the band’s caller. Regular Sunday night dancing lessons in the village hall also helped to encourage those less confident at dancing to practise their new skills. Over 120 people, all dressed in green, attended this popular fund raising event. To continue the Irish theme, Guinness proved the preferred beverage and supper was a delicious Irish stew with soda bread, followed by cheese and biscuits, all supplied by The Market Place in Wetherby. A raffle and Pot of Gold tombola helped to raise the overall profits of a very successful evening.
Make a date in your diary: for the evening of Wednesday, May 15 at Sicklinghall Village Hall, when Martin Fish will host a Gardener’s Question Time, joined by fellow BBC Radio York gardening expert Nigel Harrison. The evening promises to be informative and entertaining. Plants will be on sale from Riverside Nurseries before the doors open. More details and ticket prices will be available soon.
