Sherburn in Elmet

The comedy and curry night: held recently raised £1,900, £500 each to Hungate and Athelston schools and Peter Pan nursery and £400 to Brayton Belles football club. Thanks to Debbie and Stuart Haskell and helpers for all their hard work.

Sherburn Visiting Scheme: is holding a table top Sale and coffee morning on Saturday, October 26 10am-noon at the Methodist Church. Raffle and tombola and cake stall. To book a table for £5 contact Katie 07919 404728. All are welcome.

Model car racing: at pocket money prices. The next meeting of the Yorkshire Mardave Model Racing Club is on Saturday, October 26 at the Eversley Park Community Centre. Doors open at 4pm for circuit meeting for buggies, short course trucks and mardaves. Just turn up to see what goes on.

Monk Fryston

Monk Fryston Football Club: is looking for new players for the under eight, under 11 and under 12 teams. The teams play on Saturday mornings at Stocking Lane Hillam. All abilities welcome. Contact Nicola 07733 403206.

The next walk: is on Saturday, October 26 at York and Bishopthorpe a pleasant seven mile walk along a cycle path and a short stretch within the city walls. Meet 10.15am for a 10.30am start. Park on Knavesmire Road (Tadcaster Road end). Hopefully there will be a stop for elevenses at a tearoom. Bring a packed lunch and wear suitable clothing. Church Fenton

The coffee afternoon: raised £210 for the Alzheimers Society Selby Branch. Thanks to all who supported this event. The next event will be on November 9 at 2pm in the Methodist Hall in Church Fenton will be in aid of RNLI. There will be gifts and cards on sale together with cakes and bric a brac.
