Shadwell Village Hall: the fashion show held by the village hall committee on Thursday, October 10 was a great success. The show was attended by about 70 ladies from Shadwell, Scarcroft and surrounding districts. Six of the Shadwell ladies did the modelling and despite some nerves and qualms about doing the job they all looked fantastic and enjoyed the whole experience. The fashion show was presented by Kathryn Finan from The Complete Clothing Company and she had a very large and comprehensive range of dresses, jumpers, skirts and trousers. When the actual show finished the ladies were encouraged to buy the clothes and Kath was kept very busy at this stage. There weren’t many ladies who didn’t buy and the changing room was full for the rest of the afternoon. A percentage of the takings went to the village hall. Tea and cake was provided by members of the hall committee, when the shoppers had time to stop for a break. There was also a raffle. The money raised by the fashion show was for the village hall funds and the total at the end of the afternoon was £358.50, this included the £120 received from the Complete Clothing Company. The afternoon was so successful it has been decided to hold another show in the spring when Kath will have her spring collection to show.
