Shadwell Horticultural Society: held their annual tombola shower and coffee morning on Saturday, June 29 at the home of the president of the society, Mr and Mrs Peter Wooller. After all the rain of Friday everyone was feeling a bit unsure about the outdoor event but Saturday was a lovely sunny day and visitors were able to enjoy the garden and have their coffee outdoors. There were plants and cakes for sale and these went well. The end result was a very successful event with lots of prizes for the flower show tombola stall. The next event will be the annual flower and vegetable show on Saturday, August 17, 1.30-4.30pm. The show is held on the primary school playing field in Main Street, Shadwell. Admission is £6 for adults, £5 for seniors, children under 16 free. This year there will be a bouncy castle for the children and free circus skills. Schedules are now available from Shadwell Post Office for entries in the show.

St. Paul’s Mayfest Committee: the champagne and strawberry fayre will be held on this Saturday, July 6 in the village hall starting at 2 till 5pm tickets are available at £5 for adults and children are free. As well as a glass of champagne and strawberries and cream there will be tea and cakes at a nominal charge. The children have lots of activities in the church as well the popular face painting. Besides the food and drink in the village hall there will be stalls selling new books, cakes, handmade cards, jewellery and bits and bobs and Lisa will be painting nails. The Night Owls Jazz band will entertain throughout the afternoon and if that isn’t enough excitement for one day there will be two sessions of the popular Stand up, Sit down Bingo, not to be missed! The prize draw for the luxury hamper and other super prizes will be drawn at 4.30pm.
