Shadwell Village Hall: the new windows are now being fitted in the village hall and should be finished by the end of the half-term holiday which will cause the least amount of disruption to the classes and meetings which are regularly held in the hall. The ones already completed look very smart. The three panels in the lower part of the windows have been replaced with full double glazed panels leaving the top part of the windows like the originals. The meeting room window has been completed and it is amazing how much brighter the room seems. The money to pay for the windows has been raised by grants; the largest grant was from Caird Bardon and smaller amounts from Shadwell Parish Council and also from the Shadwell Ward Councillors. These generous grants have made it possible to do all the windows at the same time and not one at a time as and when the hall committee could afford them. The treasurer, David Parker, has worked very hard applying for the grants from these organisations. Once the windows are finished the Hall needs re-decorating and the floor in the main hall replacing. These jobs may have to wait a little while until the funds will allow. The next fund-raising event to be organised by the Village Hall committee is the Murder Mystery Evening, on Saturday, March 2 starting at 7.30pm. The caretaker, Kayleigh has organised a Dramatic Society to perform a Murder Mystery and the guests will have to guess who dunnit. Tickets are now available at £16 each this includes a three course dinner and welcome drink. Money raised from this event will be split between the village hall and the Alzheimer’s Society.
