Shadwell Horticultural Society: the annual plant sale for the horticultural society was held at Shadwell Grange on Sunday, May 26. It was a beautiful sunny day and visitors were able to enjoy a stroll around the gardens and have a cup of tea in the sunshine. Plant and cake stalls were kept busy as were the tea ladies. The money raised at this event helps towards the cost of the annual Flower Show. The next fund raiser for the horticultural society is on Saturday, June 29, the tombola shower and coffee morning. The venue is Spencer House, 36 Main Street Shadwell, the home of Mr and Mrs Wooller. Entrance to the coffee morning is a gift for the tombola stall at the flower show.
Shadwell Ladies Monday club: the next meeting of the Monday Club is on Monday, June 3, the date has been changed owing to the bank holiday. The AGM will be held first and then the speaker will be John Wallis with more stories about the Music Halls of the past. John will intersperse his talk with his banjo playing, he has three banjos and he will play all three. Many of the songs will be recognised by the audience so it is hoped they will sing along. This is the last meeting of this season so the meeting will end with the usual summer buffet. The annual summer outing this year is to Newby Hall on Monday July 1, non-members and friends are welcome; please contact Elizabeth for further information.
