Murder Mystery Evening: this event was a great success. The village hall was beautifully decorated and the 72 guests were pleasantly surprised. The mystery was acted out by members of the Cleckheaton and Spenborough Amateur Dramatic Society. The actors played out the mystery drama in three acts. The first one before the start of the dinner and the second act after a delicious carrot and coriander soup had bean served and eaten. The third act was performed after the main course of roast beef and all the trimmings. During the meal the guests were able to enjoy the excellent piano playing by a member of the drama group and two other actors also sang a selection of songs from My Fair Lady. Before the dessert and coffee were served the audience were able to ask questions of the actors and then each table group had to decide who had committed the crime. The acting must have been very good because no-one managed to guess who the villain was. The meal finished with dessert and coffee. The excellent three course meal was cooked by David Ford and the actors served the welcome drink and the food. Robin Frost thanked the actors for an excellent performance and thanked Gloria and Kayleigh for there organisation and decoration of the hall. The event raised over £400 and this was shared between the village hall and the Alzheimer’s Society.

Shadwell in Bloom: the SIB committee are having another of the popular Wine Call my Bluff evenings on Saturday, March 16 in the village hall. Tickets are now available at £12.50 from Debbie on 2657575. This is excellent value, it includes six different wines and a light supper. No wine knowledge is required (this is possibly an advantage). If you have never been to one of these popular events, why not, it is great fun? All proceeds to Shadwell in Bloom.

Village Hall: the next village hall quiz is on Friday, March 22 at 7.30pm. Teams should be approximately six people but if you don’t have a team just turn up and join in with another group.
