Christmas Tree switch on: good weather saw the switch on of the lights on the Parish Council Christmas Tree on New Inn Green. This year, the honour of switching on went to of Parish Coun Ruth Middleton’s two children, Oz and Nell. A short Christmas address was given by the Vicar of Bardsey Rev Chris Puckrin. Music for carol singing was provided by the Knaresborough Silver Band. The Girl Guides served mulled wine and there was a few stalls. Following the event, many visitors then retired into the very busy New Inn for an evening meal. Thanks to Paul and his team at the New Inn for their help and support of the Village.

Scarcroft Ladies Luncheon Club: the December lunch was a Christmas dinner with all the usual trimmings, as usual prepared and served by Mary Fowler and her staff. The hall and tables were adorned with festive decorations. Live music was the entertainment provided by Michael Forsyth and Friends playing a selection of 60’s music and with a Christmas flavour. The January Lunch will be on Monday, January 7.

Scarcroft Village Hall: Whilst still urgently looking for new committee members to keep the hall going, it has been decided to go head and revamp the old annual Vice Presidents scheme, now to be known as the Friends of Scarcroft Village Hall. Letters are already going out inviting residents and friends to support the running of the hall, our only community facility with their donations. As a token of thanks for their support, an invitation is sent inviting the Friends to the New Year Reception in January 2013. For further details please contact Sandra on 0113 289 2650.

Christmas Wishes: Sandra and Paul Thompson would like to take the opportunity to wish all the Scarcroft residents, readers and staff of the Wetherby News all the very best for Christmas and the New Year.
