Scarcroft Women’s Institute Coffee Morning: The Women’s Institute held its Coffee Morning at the village hall on Saturday. A successful event was held with cakes, cards, jewellery and RNLI stalls. A good raffle was held and time to chat to old friends over coffee and biscuits.

The new, New Inn Scarcroft: Following a few years as the Bracken Fox and The Harvester, the Scarcroft Public House is to return to its old name as The New Inn, its name going back into the coaching days, when the Wetherby Road was a turnpike. The original was on the roadside, demolished and the present building, retaining the New Inn name was built in 1938 with Mr & Mrs Jack Carter in charge for many years. The Bracken Fox will close for work to be done on March 14 and reopening on March 19, as The New Inn with a new look, offers of bottles of wine with two meals after 7. With all the pub closures these days, we wish the New Inn Landlord Paul and staff all the best for the future.

Scarcroft Ladies Luncheon Club: The March Luncheon is at Scarcroft village hall on March 7 at the Scarcroft village hall noon. The speaker is Mr Keith Coote ‘Climbing, My passion’.
