Parish Walks: the first of the annual parish walks took place in glorious weather. a group of 20 residents plus dogs left the New Inn heading west with a circular route, turning east and turning to the New Inn Final walk June. 24 7pm at the New Inn.

Scarcroft Ladies Luncheon Club: the June lunch took place at the village hall being prepared by Mary Fowler and her staff The speaker was Maureen Brewer chairlady of the Wetherby Crime Prevention Panel. General crime prevention was discussed including replacements of the weak euro locks fitted to patios and conservatories. Of particular interest to ladies is the problem of handbag and purse snatching particularly in supermarkets and shopping centres. Maureen handed out lanyards to attach purses and bags to a belt or coat. Never open your door to meter readers, check their credentials. Maureen told the group she was going to the House of Commons for a National Neighbourhood Watch Award which will be well deserved. Margaret Midgley gave a vote of thanks. Next Luncheon Monday, July 1.

Scarcroft Show Society Coffee Morning: the annual show society coffee morning and rose show takes place at the village hall on Saturday, June 15 10am-12pm. Bring along a rose for the competition. Plant and other stalls. Admission £1 including coffee and biscuits.

Scarcroft Women’s Institute: the June meeting of the Women’s Institute is on June 13 7.30pm at the village hall
