Scarcroft Ladies Luncheon Club Trip: members and friends of the luncheon club had a day out to Levens Hall in Cumbria. A coffee stop was made at Coniston Hotel. Arriving at Levens Hall the party had the opportunity to look round the hall and the famous topiary gardens. Leaving on the return journey stopping at Country Harvest for an evening meal before the final run back to Scarcroft. Thanks to Judith Oxer for organising the trip and Tony Broome and his Britannia coach.

Thorner Historical Society Visit: Scarcroft member of the Thorner Historical Society joined the annual trip out, this year to Pickering and Whitby. Travelling on Tony Broom’s Britannia coach to Pickering, time being spent looking round the town before boarding a train on the North Yorks Moors Railway to Whitby. Travelling through the moors countryside, looking its best at this time of the year. Arriving at Whitby most of the party made for the many fish and chip restaurants for lunch and taking the opportunity to have a boat trip, buy a few kippers, visit the Church and Abbey or just look round the town. The weather was good with bright sunshine all day. The coach picked the party up for the return journey which was by Sutton Bank. Thanks to Angus Yates and the Historical Society for organising the trip.

Vandalism in Scarcroft: it is with sadness we report a spate of vandalism in Scarcroft. This consists of egg throwing at properties, mainly Thorner Lane and also the parish council notice board outside the New Inn. This is pretty mindless, messy and a waste of eggs. It has been reported to the police and they are carrying out evening monitoring of the situation. Residents seeing anything suspicious should report it to the Wetherby Police. 01132855360 or 101.

Scarcroft Parish Council Parish Walks: the second parish walk takes place on Monday evening June, 10. Meet at the New Inn at.7pm. All welcome. The third walk is on Monday, June 24.
