The festive season will be off to a flying start on Sunday at the third annual Santa on the Run event at Stockeld Park to raise funds for Martin House Children’s Hospice.

Over 350 santas are currently booked on with many more expected to turn up on the morning of the event said a spokesman for the organisers.

Events Manager at Martin House Caroline Hudson said: “We are really excited to be holding our third Santa Run at Stockeld Park.

“This will be a fun event in a wonderful Christmas environment.

“Lots of people from across the local area have already signed up to support us and in doing so are helping us to raise the £4.9 million that we will need in 2014 to provide care and support to the children and their families that need us across Yorkshire.

“Thanks so much to everyone – we look forward to seeing you on Sunday.”

Entrants will run from 1-5km through the Enchanted Forest at the winter theme park and raise money from the £10 entrance fee, which will include a free Santa suit and goody bag, and £5 for the under 16’s.

Stockeld Park owner Susie Grant said: “You’ll see a few more Santas than normal in our woodland on Sunday.

Registration is at 8.30am.
