A traditional Yorkshire brass band will lead the Gala procession through Boston Spa on June 15.

The York Railway Institute Golden Rail Band will lead the fancy dress parade through the village from St Mary’s church at 12.45pm.

And organisers are encouraging children to dress up and take this opportunity to march down the High Street behind the band! The best children’s fancy dress will be judged between 1.15 and 1.30pm.

Gala chairman for 2013 Shaun Connelly said: “The aim of Gala has been primarily to make sure everyone has a good time but also to raise money for local good causes.

“Since the Gala started we have been able to donate over £50,000 to organisations such as Boston in Bloom, and Aiming High.

“It is down to your generosity in supporting the Gala that we have been able to do this – so thank you (and please let your child have that one extra go on the trampoline).”

As usual the Gala has a number of activities for visitors to enjoy.

The junior football tournament for local primary schools will run throughout the afternoon, culminating in an award ceremony at 4pm.

There will be entertainment at the Stables Lane Gala site, from 1pm, in the form of the funfair, welly wanging, trampolines, a band, and lots to eat and drink!

And the main event arena will host a number of activities during the Gala including for the first time a Fun Dog Show with several categories, including The Perfect Pedigree, The Desirable Designer Cross, The Most Marvellous Mongrel, The Best Turned Out or Dressed Dog and The Dog the Judges would most like to take home.

Register in advance at Gifted, Boston Spa or on the day from 1-1.45pm.

The many stalls at the Gala are fundraisers for local organisations.
