Prison arts and crafts

There is to be an exhibition of art and crafts from Wealstun Prison and also from the Young Offenders’ Unit at Wetherby.

It will be held in Boston Spa Methodist Church on Friday, November 25 and Saturday, November 26 from 10am-4pm each day.

It is hoped that many people will be interested to see the art and to have the opportunity to meet and speak with staff who will be there to answer questions and explain the ways in which they try to help through art.

The Sycamore Tree programme focuses on raising Victim Awareness and teaches the principles and application of Restorative Justice.

The art will remain on display for the Sunday service which starts at 10.30am on November 27.

Martin, one of the learning and skills managers from Wealstun, will give a short talk during the service.

Everyone is welcome to attend.

Hot drinks and mince pies will be available all day on the Friday and Saturday in the Wesley Room.
