A GROUP of friends dubbed the ‘Collingham Fairies’ raised more than £1,000 by taking part in the Race for Life at York racecourse. The magnificent seven went all out on the pink theme, by wearing fancy dress items including bunny ears, feather boas and sunglasses for the 5km charity fun run for breast cancer.

Pink fairy Christine Pickles said: “We did look a bit of a sight, but we had a fun day out and managed to raise money for a very worthy charity in the process.”

Race for Life is the largest women-only fundraising event in the UK. Since 1994 women of all ages and fitness levels across the UK have taken part. For further information and to get involved visit www.raceforlife.org
