This is the second time a friend of Wharfedale House, Wetherby, James Phillips has put on his running shoes for Leonard Cheshire.

James from East Keswick ran the Bathray Windermere Marathon around Lake Windermere in sun and occasional heavy downpours.

Some of the residents of Wharfedale House went along to see the marathon dodging the showers and the wind.

Maureen Asquith, a volunteer Coordinator at Wharfedale said, “James has put a lot of effort into raising more than £800 for our minibus appeal running this Marathon, and we would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to him publically, especially as this is the second year,”

“Only someone really special would, on his own, choose to do something so gruelling for the benefit of others.”
