A Tadcaster man has been shortlisted for a prestigious honour at the inaugural annual awards ceremony hosted by the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS UK) and its trading subsidiary IQL UK.

Chris Hirst who works for the Tadcaster Swimming Pool Trust, is in the running to receive the Pool Lifeguard Trainer Assessor of the Year Award having shown exceptional instruction, assessment and development skills for Pool Lifeguard training in the Leeds area.

Chris Porter from the Tadcaster Swimming Pool Trust, said: “We are all incredibly proud of Chris and it is fantastic that he has been shortlisted for this prestigious award.

“Chris is an outstanding role model for our lifeguard team.”

Chris performed a real-life rescue last year, in which he saved the life of a local man who was suffering a panic attack and struggling to breathe.

The awards will take place tomorrow at the annual RLSS UK Conference at Cranage Hall, Cheshire.
