Move to share council services

HARROGATE Borough Council has been invited to share key services with York Council as the unitary authority strives to cope with multi-million pound cutbacks.

York Council leader Coun James Alexander has written to his political counterparts across Yorkshire in a bid to reduce the impact of £10m in cuts which are due to be enforced during the next financial year.

In a cost-cutting move, Harrogate Borough Council last year approved plans to share resources with Craven and Selby district councils.
