POLICE chief Marcus Griffiths is urging more people to follow the example of the Volunteer of the Year and get involved in their Neighbourhood Watch Scheme.
Maureen Brewer, who is chairman of the Wetherby and District Crime Prevention Panel, was awarded Volunteer of the Year by Stray FM in May
He said: “Following the example set by Maureen, we are urging people to get more involved in the local community and the Neighbourhood Watch Scheme.
“Maureen has been doing voluntary work for more than 25 years in the field of crime prevention, neighbourhood watch and as a police volunteer, and she has helped us immensely.
“She has enthusiastically carried out extensive fundraising in the area to help provide people with crime prevention tools such as purse lanyards, timer switches, locks and much more.”
