A pet gala day is to be held in Tockwith’s Paws and Claws Pet Hotel on Saturday August 18 from 11.30am.

The Fleet Lane-based kennels is to host the fundraiser with all proceeds going to the York and District RSPCA Animal Home which costs about £1500 a day to run.

The Gala Day will have as its centre piece a Companion Dog Show, with 12 classes, including dog musical mats, in which owners can enter their pets.

There will be refreshments, including tea, coffee, cold drinks, cakes, scones, barbecue, ice cream and also a book stall, children’s lucky dips, games and an ‘everyone a winner’ tombola.

There will be people on hand to give information about the Animal Home and the work of the RSPCA to anyone interested, including the names of animals waiting for adoption.

A professional dog groomer will be in attendance, offering cut rate grooming, again all monies being donated to the Animal Home.

A spokesman for York RSPCA Animal Home urged people to attend.

“We are very grateful to Paws and Claws Pet Hotel for their generosity and hope the event will be well supported.”
