St Aidan’s High School hosted its annual sports awards evening when 150 students from year groups eight, nine and 10 received an award, presented by wheelchair athletes Callum Hall and Jade Jones.
Jade competed in the London 2012 Paralympics and more recently Rio, where she competed in the 800m, 1500m and 5,000m. Callum has represented Great Britain and is now involved with the British Athletes Futures Programme for wheelchair racing.
Both guests delighted the audience with a question and answer session and added to the celebratory evening. St Aidan’s won more than 33 sporting competitions and trophies in the 2015-2016 academic year. School officials hope the evening has inspired the students to make it another exciting year.
