Taking policing to both sides of the bridge

editorial image

On behalf of the local safer neighbourhood team covering Tadcaster and Villages we would like to reassure the community that we are continuing to provide a positive presence across both sides of the bridge in Tadcaster.

The town and businesses are slowly recovering but with the bridge shut, access to both sides is limited.

The viaduct has now been opened and from a policing point of view, this has made access a lot easier on bikes.

Response times are not as long for us to access the eastside and in an emergency we can reach the other side of town on bikes a lot quicker than travelling up the A64.

Local police will ensure that regular patrols are split between the east and west side as needed.

We do encourage members of the community to engage with your local officers and report any suspicious activity or behaviour.

Crime presently is very low and this can be attributed to locals passing vital information about suspect behaviour when it is first witnessed.

We do urge the community to be extra vigil throughout the dark nights and continue to secure house doors even when the premises are occupied.

Sneak in thieves are around and will take any opportunity they have.
