One of the best pantomimes ever

Old Mother Goose at York Theatre Royal has Wetherby News nine-year-old reviewer Luke Smith in raptures.

The panto this year was a blast. It was so silly and that made it brilliant fun.

This year there was David Leonard’s return, a goose called Matilda and kids dressing up as goslings.

Also there were all the best actors from previous years, such as Harry Hughes, AJ Powell, Suzy Cooper, Martin Barrass and everyone’s favourite dame Berwick Kaler, who has been performing in York pantos for 36 years.

I think all the scenes were epic, but one I really enjoyed was when the cast weren’t on stage, but we watched them acting in a film on a big screen. That is a tradition in the Theatre Royal panto.

I also liked the water scene, when Berwick was surfing above his bed. He got very wet.

Overall, I think this is one of the best pantos I have ever seen. I love the Theatre Royal, the show is amazing and Berwick Kaler is the best dame ever.

Old Mother Goose runs at York Theatre Royal until January 31.
