Model in running for Miss England title

A 20-year-old model from Bramham is one of 15 contestants competing in the second Miss England semi-final heat for 2017.

Lene Halvorsen recently auditioned at the Miss England Headquarters and impressed the judges on the day and has qualified for the second semi-final heat.

Bramham born Lene, who is fluent in Spanish after living in Spain from the age seven, returned to Britain and the village this year to enhance her modelling career.

Mum Sharon Halvorsen said: “Lene could not believe the news that she had been picked to be in the last 15 semi-finalists of Miss England after the audition in Leicester.

“She is still in shock, realising the hard work begins now.

“She will begin fund raising very shortly for the charity Beauty with a Purpose.

Lene went to Bramham primary school up to the age of seven, before emigrating to Spain with her family.

Mum Sharon added: “I believe Lene has a very bright future a head of her.

“For her to win Miss England, we need local people to support her.”

The public vote is underway and acts as one judge on the panel. Lene needs the support of her local community before voting lines close on November 30, to secure a place in the Miss England semi-final to be held in June 2017.

The contestants have a month to promote themselves in the area they live in and on social media to gain votes from the public.

During this time, they are also invited to raise awareness and funds for the Miss World Charity Beauty with a Purpose.

The judging panel will decide who is the most photogenic and has promoted themselves and the charity the most, including gaining votes through the public vote.

The top three contestants in the public vote by the closing date along with two judge’s choices will then be shortlisted for a final interview by telephone. At least one winner will then be selected for the Miss England Semi-final at Kelham Hall in Nottinghamshire in June 2017.

“The competition is about being beautiful inside and out, we are not just looking for a pretty face,” said Miss England national director Angie Beasley.

Vote for Lene to help her win the Miss England Semi-final heat title by texting MISS SEMI10 to 63333, costs 50p.
