Harrogate in Bloom: Judging process revealed at meeting

Interested in knowing more about the way Harrogate is judged in the national Britain in Bloom competition?

There is a chance for gardening enthusiasts to find out more about how they, either as an individual, business or community group, can play a more active part, is invited to come along to Harrogate in Bloom’s open meeting on Sunday, April 6 at 3pm at the West Park United Reformed Church.

“Community participation is every bit as important as the design of the flowerbeds and grass-cutting on the Stray,” said Harrogate in Bloom president, Pam Grant.

“We want to make sure that when the judges come here in August, they hear about the excellent work that is undertaken by all the voluntary groups in the town, such as the restoration of the Magnesia Well by Friends of Valley Gardens.

It’s going to be a “Team Harrogate” entry this year.”

After its success in winning a Gold award and the category in last year’s Yorkshire in Bloom, Harrogate will be representing Yorkshire in the national Britain in Bloom finals in 2014.
