All Saints Church Spofforth: the service on Sunday, February 24 will be holy communion, 1662 version at 9.30am.

Household Waste: collection at Spofforth will be on Friday, February 22.

The Spofforth Beer Festival: will take place on Saturday , March 9 from noon until the barrels run dry at The Long Memorial Hall. There will be 18 great beers to choose from together with food. wine and soft drinks will also be available. Entertainment will be provided by Spofforth’s own Crimple Stompers and DJ Griff, Tickets at £5, which will include a free glass, the first drink and a tasting menu will be available from G&M News; The Hairbelle or 01937 590378.

Crime Figures: During 2012, there were 26 crimes recorded in Spofforth with four detections. 107 crimes were recorded across the parishes, including the motorway service area. The detection rate increased to two per cent compared with 18 per cent in 2011. The crime rate in 2011 was 123. House burglaries were recorded with no detections but most of the thefts were from outbuildings and gardens. Spofforth Cricket Club: Winter nets will start on Wednesday, February 20, 7-8pm and on subsequent Wednesdays at Headingley Indoor Cricket Centre. All senior players are welcome to attend and also junior players who wish to be considered for selection for the senior teams are especially asked to go along. Under 9s to under 11s will be from 6-7pm and under13s to under 15s will be from 7-8pm. Coaching staff and junior team managers will be in attendance.
