Hundreds of young girls from across Harrogate, Ripon, Boroughbridge and Knaresborough have taken part in the Big Brownie Birthday celebrations.
The 600-strong group, aged from seven to 10, travelled to see The Jungle Book at the West Yorkshire Playhouse as part of the nationwide celebrations.
“I really liked it when the boy jumped into the pool of water on stage,” said one Brownie, Lily, aged nine and from the fourth Bilton Brownies.
All the girls loved the action of the play, said group organisers, especially swinging from the vines and the monkeys chasing around.
The trip was the idea of Brownie leader Jill Jackson.
She said: “It was a good way to start off the Big Brownie Birthday year, with Brownies from across the County joining together.”
The Brownies group turns 100 in 2014 and all through the year is to hold events to celebrate.
The trip was only the start of the district’s Big Birthday celebrations.
Three members, Holly, Poppy and Charlotte, are taking part in Big Brownie Birthday Challenges, building gingerbread houses, going on trains, and trying to give up electricity for an evening.
And many of the Brownies are to take part in a massive Star Quest event at Wetherby Race Course in May.
They will join up to 20,000 fellow Brownie and Guide members from Rainbows to Trefoil Guild in a search for the stars.
