Hide AdPolice revealed that recovery was on the way for the vehicle with one lane of traffic still open.
However, the blockage has caused an increase in traffic on the road, as well as delays to bus and train journeys.
Northern Rail has stated that services from Leeds to Knaresborough will terminate at Harrogate.
Sgt Paul Cording said that recovery had managed to free the lorry from under the bridge and were in the process of making the road safe before clearing up.
