Leeds United this week confirmed their ongoing support for Wetherby Girls footy when UEFA B licensed coach Chris Gibson joined Wetherby Girls at their Monday night training.
Chris will work with the Under-15 and Under-18 age groups until the summer holidays and then next season to support the girls to develop their football skills.
The Wetherby club has had a link up with Leeds United for the last two seasons which is a relationship which has worked really well.
Lead Coach Pete Hall said: “We are really grateful to the Leeds United Foundation for their ongoing support. The players really appreciate the opportunity which this association brings. It also helps us attract new players who know they’ll get high quality and professional coaching.”
Chris was very enthusiastic after his first session: “I’m so pleased to start this footballing relationship with such a friendly and enthusiastic bunch. It’s great to see youngsters so eager to learn and enjoying themselves at the same time. On top of that, there are some real quality footballers. Our plans are to develop the group of players over the next few weeks and well into next season. We’ll make sure that each of them gets some individual coaching too.”
Striker Lisa Clarke is a big fan and said: “These sessions are really good. Chris makes us work hard, but we are developing really well and having a lot of fun in the process.”
Wetherby has a strong girls football section with over 70 players in five different age groups.
Anyone who is interested in joining at any age group can find contact details on the website or contact Pete Hall (under 15s coach) on 07590 999205.
