Jeweller wins award for design

Nigel Townsend of Wetherby-based Kiroco was honoured at the Goldsmiths’ craft and design council awards. He was present with the Silver award for Technologial Innovation for digital jewellery which allows personal information to be stored securely and can only be seen by a specified smartphone.

On receiving the Award Nigel Townsend, Managing Director of Kiroco said: “Being judged by such experienced and respected practitioners within our profession and winning an award is the highest accolade we could achieve for our innovative digital jewellery in our first year of business.”

The Goldsmith Craft and Design Council awards, sponsored by Cartier, embrace every aspect of craft and design activity currently being practiced in the UK industry, making the Awards unrivalled in the UK.

Roger Taylor of the Council added: “As a member of the Council judging panel it was felt that Kiroco technology embraced the concept of Technological Innovation in to the field of Jewellery.”

Kiroco’s winning entry is on display with other award winners at Goldsmiths’ Hall in London until March 6.
