Martin House Children’s Hospice has this week announced the appointment of Angela Monaghan as its Chief Executive.

The move follows the retirement of Aase Somerscale, Director of Business and Support Services who will leave the Clifford-based facility for children with life-limiting illnesses at the end of September.

Will Lifford, Chair of Trustees, said: “I am delighted to welcome Angela and I am confident that under her leadership Martin House will continue to provide excellent care and support to our children and their families.

“This care is only possible because of the generous support we receive from the Yorkshire community, be they individuals, groups, or business organisations.”

Mr Lifford added: “I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the fantastic work done by Aase over the past 25 years and to thank her for her dedication and service to Martin House and the children and families we support.”

Angela has over 30 years’ experience of leadership across a range of public, voluntary and community organisations, at national, regional and local level.

She said: “I feel very honoured to have been appointed as Chief Executive of Martin House, which has been at the forefront of the philosophy and delivery of children’s hospice care for the past 26 years, not just in the UK but throughout the world.
