a Wetherby restaurant is hoping to scoop in the cash for a seriously ill toddler.
Sant Angelo’s is to hold an Ice Cream Sundae on February 19 to raise money for Knaresborough two-year-old Sadie Rose Clifford.
Catherine Delbruno, who owns the eatery with husband Franco, said: “We know the family and were asked to do something to help.
“Sadie’s family need to raise £500,000 and they have raised £300,000 so far.”
The tot is currently undergoing treatment in New York for neuroblastoma, an aggressive childhood cancer, but surgeons at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre last week discovered more tumours in Sadie’s liver which are spreading to her chest.
The treatment she was expected to undergo had to be stopped and after discussions with doctors in Leeds, where Sadie Rose was originally treated, Sadie has now begun a further course of chemotherapy.
Sant Angelo’s has designed six special sundaes including a chocolate surprise and knickerbocker glory just for the event.
The restaurant will donate a pound for each ice cream sold and will sell purple balloons. Customers will also be able to leave donations in collection boxes.
“We would just like to get families to come along and have our specially designed ice creams,” added Catherine.
Ice Cream Sundae will take place at the High Street-based restaurant from 10am-6pm.
