Welsh singing sensation Aled Jones has pledged his support to a Harrogate mum who is training for an endurance race.
Alexia Rushton is taking on an Ironman 70.3 next year in aid of Brain Tumour Research. Mr Jones, visiting Harrogate last week, became her first sponsor.
Alexia explained: “Many people ask me why an earth I’m attempting such an extreme event. Because, I believe that if you are determined enough, you can amaze yourself at what is possible .
“The ironman 70.3 involves swimming 1.2 miles in a cold lake, cycling a very hilly 56 miles and then running 13.1 miles – all in as little time as possible.
“To achieve this I need to become super fit, lose at least three stone, and I only have nine months to do it.
“Brain Tumour Research and Support makes a huge difference to people’s lives, all of whom are going through the unthinkable.”
