The following were among those dealt with at Harrogate Magistrates Court on June 23:
Jamie Ben Lofthouse, 19, of 25 Walworth Avenue, Harrogate, was given a four-week curfew for failing to comply with the terms of a previous community order. Magistrates instructed that the previous order remain in place, and imposed costs of £40.
Monique Sam Shiels, 21, of 14 Beech Road, Ripon, was given a 12-month community order for assaulting a police officer. She was ordered to complete 60 hours of unpaid work and to pay a victim surcharge of £60 and costs of £85. For a second count of assaulting a police officer, she was ordered to pay compensation of £100.
Stephen Paul Cattanach, 40, of no fixed address, was given a six-month prison sentence for carrying a locking knife in Strawberry Dale, Harrogate. Magistrates imposed a £120 victim surcharge and ordered that the knife be forfeited and destroyed. No separate penalty was imposed for stealing two bottles of vodka and two bottles of Champagne from Marks and Spencer in Cambridge Street.
Deborah Lesley Williams, 40, of 147 Skipton Road, Harrogate, was given a four-week prison sentence for stealing meat worth £78.06 from the Co-op on Leeds Road, Harrogate. For a second count of stealing meat worth £44.38 from the same shop on the same day, she was given a concurrent four-week prison sentence. For committing a further offence while subject to a suspended sentence for theft, she was ordered to pay a £120 victim surcharge.
Daniel Dean Bucknell, 34, of 95 Leicester Squre, Manston Lane, Leeds, was given a six-month prison sentence for taking a car from Beckwith Road without the owner’s consent, causing damage to the vehicle and to a wall at the property. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £100. No separate penalty imposed for driving while disqualified, driving without insurance or driving without a licence, or for leaving a petrol station on Harrogate Road, Leeds, without paying for £15 of fuel.
The following were among those dealt with at Harrogate Magistrates Court on June 17:
Rebecca Knight, 25, of Flat 1, 22 Hilton Lane, Knaresborough, was fined £440 for travelling on the railway between York and Hornbeam Park without having paid the £6.35 fare. She must pay compensation of £6.35, a victim surcharge of £44 and costs of £150.
Jonathan Russell, 28, of Flat 1, 97 East Parade, Harrogate, was fined £220 for attempting to travel on a train without a valid ticket. He was ordered to pay compensation of £8.10, a victim surcharge of £22 and costs of £150.
Alan Sutcliffe, 40, of 65 Stockwell Avenue, Knaresborough, was fined £440 for travelling on the railway between Cattal and Knaresborough without paying the fare of £4.70. He was ordered to pay compensation of £4.70, a victim surcharge of £44 and costs of £150. For giving a false name and address when challenged over non-payment of the fare, he was fined a further £440.
The following were among those dealt with at Harrogate Magistrates Court on June 17 for non-payment of council tax:
Sharon Bendelow, 46, of 5 Grange Close, Dishforth, was ordered to pay £1,415.13 or in default serve 23 days suspended. Vicky Johnson, of Rose Tree Cottage, Skelton-on-Ure, £1,749.19 or 35 days suspended.
