A committee of local supporters worked on the event, together with Brenda Peel from Martin House, developing the theme and ideas.

Brenda said: “We were delighted to be back at Rudding Park this year and the entertainment, by the band Huge, was amazing.

“The evening began with a champagne reception and was followed by a three-course meal and fantastic raffle and auction.

“The prizes secured were fantastic and included a stay for three nights for two people at Kasbah Tamadot, Sir Richard Branson’s fabulous Moroccan retreat in the High Atlas Mountains, a training experience in a flight simulator, a wonderful diamond pendant from Berrys and a trip to the home of Bentley motors in Crewe.”

Alyson Wort, fundraising manager at Martin House said: “It is incredible how much the Glitter Ball committee have achieved for the hospice.

“To get so many people to support this ball, which is in turn helping hundreds of children with a shortened life expectancy, is just wonderful.
