THEY have done it again! For the fourth year running, Tadcaster Grammar School’s Swimming Squad has taken top honours and brought home the shield from the Leeds & District Swimming Gala.
More than 40 students from Years 7 to 12 took part against six other schools and proved that they are unbeatable.
The gala began with heats held over three different evenings and Tadcaster came on top with the most points.
At the halfway point on the finals night, Tadcaster was only 18 points ahead.
“It was close at one point,” said coach and PE teacher, Claire Byers. “They really had to step up their game when the halfway score was announced.”
“The students were all fantastic and really determined to bring home the trophy to Tadcaster once again,”
“Year 12 student Simon Duston won the Individual Medley and received the first prize medal, but it was a real team effort.
“However, special thanks must go to Eleanor Heard, captain of the Year 7 girls’ team and Fleur Standen, captain of Years 8 and 9 for all their organisation and swimming.
“Similarly, Andrew Taylor and Aimee-Jo Milner, whose help was invaluable.”
