Council design statements are open to view

Selby District Council has been working with local residents on a series of Village Design Statements (VDS) that are available for comment as part of the process of Adoption in to the Local Development Framework.

A VDS is a planning document intended to give advice and guidance to anyone who is considering any form of development in the village no matter how large or small.

It sets out the elements that make up local character in order to improve the quality of design in any new development and includes replacing doors and windows as well as more significant work such as extensions and new buildings.

A Draft VDS has been prepared for the following villages - Appleton Roebuck, Barlow, Bilbrough, Brotherton, Byram, Carlton, Church Fenton, Monk Fryston, Newton Kyme, North Duffield, Riccall, Stutton, Ulleskelf and Womersley.

Copies of the Consultation Draft SPDs and supporting documents may be viewed and/or downloaded from the website at www.selby.gov.uk or may also be inspected at the following locations during normal opening times; Access Selby, Market Cross Shopping Centre, Selby, Selby Library, 52 Micklegate, Sherburn in Elmet Library, Finkle Hill, Tadcaster Library, Station Road and Barlby Library, Howden Road.

The consultation period runs to 5pm on September 12.

Representations either supporting or objecting to the draft SPDs should be made in writing stating the reason for the response together with changes required to satisfy your representation, and sent to Policy Officer, Selby District Council, Civic Centre, Doncaster Road, Selby, North Yorkshire, YO8 9FT or to amcmillan@selby.gov.uk
