Schoolchildren and staff from Thorner Primary have buried their memories of 2012 for future generations to uncover.

A time capsule was put in place to celebrate 125 years of education in the village. A school spokesman said: “We put in items to remember the wonderful year of 2012, including Olympic tickets, Diamond Jubilee memorabilia, photographs, writing and art from the children who wanted to donate an item, as well as school newsletters from throughout the year.” The whole school gathered at the front, around the flagpole flying the Union Jack and the Rev Nicholson led a service with readings and prayers written by Year Six children. Gary Noble the Thorner Primary Superintendent and School Council children buried the Time Capsule, which will be dug up in 50 years time in 2062.
