School looks to mark 50th anniversary

Memories came flooding back about the building of St Aidan's High School in Harrogate.

Headteacher Mr Wood met with former St Peter’s Secondary School head girl Mrs O’Neill who cut the first sod on the site in March 1966 to talk about the day.

And now the school is trying to trace Raymond Long, former head boy of Christ Church Secondary Boys School, as St Aidan’s looks to mark its 50th Anniversary in 2018/19.

Mrs O’Neill, who later went on to study at Durham University and then became a Teacher of Maths and ICT, remembered being with Canon Baines, the then Vicar of St Peter’s as well as Raymond Long. She also said the Headteacher was Miss Hindmarsh when it opened in 1968.
