FRENCH students were given the perfect welcome to Wetherby as the town celebrates its 20th anniversary of its twinning with the French town of Privas.
As part of the official welcome, the students were given a guided tour around Wetherby by members of Wetherby Civic Society before a day of entertainment which included a slide show of old Wetherby.
As part of the trip, the visitors were treated to a civic reception and a French sing-along which included schoolchildren from Crossley Street Primary joining in the fun.
Guests were also treated to lunch provided by the Wetherby Twinning Association. Chairman of Wetherby Twinning Association, Cindy Bentley, said the week-long trip had been a “great success”
The pupils visited Wetherby High School students as part of the first school exchange programme in ten years.
The students were on a return visit of the school exchange after pupils from Wetherby High School visited Privas, in the Ardèche region of France, just before the Easter holidays.
