Students at Harrogate Grammar School have been rewarded for a spectacular year.

In the Royal Hall, pupils received awards celebrating achievement both academic, sport, and artistic.

An award-winning inventor, Emily Cummins, was a guest speaker at the awards evening and she spoke of the need to constantly challenge yourself and make a mark in the world.

This was followed by speeches from head girl Ciara Martin and head boy Jamaal Mens.

Headteacher Richard Sheriff said: “It was wonderful to see so many young people come up on stage to proudly receive their award that are the pinnacle of the awards system in school.

“Harrogate Grammar School has had a very successful year, despite all the changes to exams and the constant chopping and changing of education policy this year, as in previous years, students did superbly both at GCSE and A level gaining some of the best results in the school’s history.

“These students have now left ready to take on the challenges of the world but also ready to seize the many opportunities that are out there for the taking.

“Along with the enormous efforts of the young people, and the support from you at home, success requires the commitment and skill of great teachers and support staff so I would like to thank the exceptional people who work so hard to make our school so special.”
