Colour run to help stop violence

Pupils, staff and parents at Harrogate Ladies' College experienced an explosion of colour this week as the school hosted its very own Colour Run in aid of Leeds-based charity, Behind Closed Doors.

The Colour Run, which raised over £700, took place on the school fields and was organised by Year 11 pupils.

Pupil, Lucy Mulligan said: “We wanted to organise something that would be really fun and memorable, but would also raise a lot of money for charity. A Colour Run seemed like the perfect solution.”

Behind Closed Doors works with men and women who are affected by domestic abuse and violence.

“Domestic violence isn’t really spoken about and so we wanted to do something to change that,” explained Lucy.

“The Colour Run seemed a great way of doing something positive, about something so negative.”

Fran Irvine, Head of Middle School said: “The girls’ spirit and enthusiasm was infectious and the school field was a riot of colour.”
