Christmas Pudding Club

Budding chefs at Bankfield Nursery and Pre-Prep got ready for Christmas by making puddings on Stir-up Thursday.

Youngsters followed a traditional recipe that included dried fruits, mixed peel, eggs, sugar, breadcrumbs, orange juice, flour and spices.

The Christmas Pudding Club lesson was led by the school’s Catering Manager chef Craig Robinson, who described why each ingredient was added.

Craig said: “It’s so important to involve children with baking at a young age and get them inspired about cooking by feeling the different textures as they add ingredients to the mix.”

Deputy Head of Bankfield, Charlotte Cryer said: “We were delighted that Mr Robinson was able to make time in his very busy schedule to teach us the basics of baking.

“It’s always a delight to see our youngest children so engaged and having fun while learning about where food comes from and different ingredients.”

The individual puddings were baked by the catering team at Harrogate Ladies’ College for the children to take home.
