Rain did not stop the flag waving Diamond Jubilee fun as months of behind the scenes planning was declared a success by organisers.

In Tadcaster more than a thousand defied the downpours and watched the procession of floats on the Sunday during four days of celebrations.

It all kicked off on Friday at Tadcaster Albion Football Club as it hosted a family day with Peppa Pig and Bob the Builder and much more.

Saturday was the turn of Tadcaster’s Social Club to put on a show with live music from a range of entertainers including some of the area’s top young bands right through to barbershop singers, organised by 17-year-old Mark Allison.

Tadcaster’s Carnival Parade was the first for many years, but was very poppular with the scout entry taking best float.
