Police are appealing for information after a woman was assaulted during an attempted robbery as she walked along Kirgate in Sherburn-in-Elmet.
The attack happened at around 11.15pm on Saturday November 15 when one of two men approached her, grabbed her arm and demanded money before assaulting her. The victim managed to escape before anything was stolen.
“The woman, who is aged in her 40s, suffered scratches to her face during the incident and was left very shaken up by what happened to her,” said a North Yorkshire Police spokesman.
Officers are carrying out extensive enquiries into the incident including house-to-house enquiries and checking CCTV in the area.
They are now appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the attack to contact them.
The suspects are described as both white, aged between 18 and 22, one was 5ft 5in tall and the other 5ft 8in tall.
They wore dark coloured clothing and had their hoods up over the top half of their faces. The one who spoke to the woman had a Yorkshire accent.
