Police investigating suspicious death of tenth Red Kite near Harrogate

Police are investigating the suspicious death of another Red Kite which was found at Timble Ings near Harrogate.

The Red Kite was discovered in Timble Ings, a large area of upland woodland situated between Harrogate and Skipton and a well-known hot-spot for birdwatchers.

The bird is the tenth Red Kite to have been found shot or died in suspicious circumstances in North Yorkshire over the last three months.

Police said they are currently waiting to hear back from the vets as well as results of an X-ray before making any further comment.

In May, police slammed the 'shocking extent of Red Kite persecution' after a bird was fatally shot down owner Blubberhouses.

Police first launched an investigation into the death of the birds in April when a Red Kite was found shot on farmland, near Nidd in Harrogate, before being put down by a vet.
