A NEW number has been launched for people in North Yorkshire to contact the police when it is not an emergency.
Residents can dial 101 for situations such as minor traffic collisions, criminal damage or issues affecting the community.
Unlike the old 0845 numbers, the new number will be the same for all forces and people will be connected to the right control room based on their location. Calls to the line will always cost 15p, regardless of the time of day, length of call and what kind of phone they are calling from.
People should still call 999 in an emergency.
