The following were dealt with at Harrogate Magistrates Court on October 13:

Bradley Ian Gresham, 19, of 12 Ouseburn Road, Blackburn, was fined £145 for assaulting a police officer in Parliament Street, Harrogate. He was ordered to pay compensation of £100, a victim surcharge of £20, costs of £85 and a criminal courts charge of £150.

Dale Christopher Plant, 29, of 3 Forest Grange Close, Starbeck, Harrogate, was fined £50 for fraud after placing a cheaper label on a more expensive item of clothing at Primark in Harrogate. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and a criminal courts charge of £150. For committing an offence while subject to a suspended sentence for aggravated vehicle taking, he was given a 16-week sentence suspended for 15 months.

Christopher Ian Dalton, 33, of 14 Beech Road, Ripon, was sentenced to two weeks’ imprisonment for stealing food worth £62.40 from the Co-op in Elm Road, Ripon. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £80 and a criminal courts charge of £150.

John Andrew McAuley, 55, of 53 Albany Avenue, Harrogate, was fined £80 for using racially-aggravated language or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and a criminal courts charge of £150.

Paul Thompson, 48, of 135 Leeds Road, Harrogate, was given a 12-month conditional discharge for three counts of theft. He was ordered to pay compensation of £3.95 and £6.18 for two thefts from the One Stop Shop on Crab Lane, Harrogate. For a theft from Boots in Skipton, he was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £15 and a criminal courts charge of £150.

Jamie Ben Lofthouse, 18, of 25 Walworth Avenue, Harrogate, was given a 12-month community order for assaulting a police officer. He was ordered to complete 80 hours’ unpaid work and must pay compensation of £100, a victim surcharge of £60, costs of £85 and a criminal courts charge of £150. No further penalty was imposed for committing a further offence while subject to a conditional discharge.

Barrie Iveson Liddle, 75, of Upper Dale View, Old Church Lane, Pateley Bridge, was given a two-year conditional discharge for two counts of using behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress. He must pay a victim surcharge of £15, costs of £620 and a criminal courts charge of £520.

Emma Claire Plant, 27, of Flat 16, Park House Court, Park House Green, Harrogate, was given a 12-month conditional discharge for using abusive words or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress. She was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £15, costs of £40 and a criminal courts charge of £150.

Kalvin Lee William Kelly, 19, of 52 Beevers Court, Iveson Approach, Lawnswood, Leeds, was given a community order for assaulting a police officer in Dragon Road, Harrogate. He was ordered to pay compensation of £100, a victim surcharge of £60 and a criminal courts charge of £150. No separate penalty was imposed for using threatening behaviour.
