Increase in shed and gararge thefts

A WETHERBY police officer is urging residents to be on their guard after an increase in shed and garage thefts.

Sgt Matt Appleyard, of Wetherby Police, said there had been a “slight” increase in thefts in and around the Wetherby area in the last few weeks.

He said: “We would ask all residents to make sure doors and windows are secured, that people do not leave anything out in their gardens such as tools or gardening equipment and that bikes are tagged and safely locked away. People need to be mindful and conscious to help stop opportunist thieves.”
