Four people charged following Sicklinghall Cricket Club fire

This week, two males aged 18 and 17 and a 17-year-old female were charged with conspiracy to commit arson in relation to ten fires, between August 12 and October 17.

Eighteen-year-old Jaike Paton, of Wetherby Road, Sicklinghall, appeared at Leeds Magistrates Court on October 18 with the two youths from Leeds.

Daniel Simpson, 30, from The Clearings, Leeds, appeared at Leeds Magistrates Court on October 12 charged with the same offence and was remanded in custody.

The incidents involving buildings, skips, a car and tyres were at various locations including a fire at Sicklinghall Cricket club.

Insp Anthony Scopelliti of West Yorkshire Police said: "Incidents of arson, such as these, cause understandable concern in the community and we will continue to work closely alongside our partners in the fire service in the run-up to bonfire night to reduce incidents and keep our communities safe."
